To prevent damage of the outer sheath, please note that different cable materials require various torque values.
A: UV test requirements are completed according to the UL 514B test specifications.
Black glands are recommended for UV applications, as color retention is not an issue. Other colors have a tendency to fade over time; however, physical performance will remain unaffected.
A: SKINTOP® glands that are UL listed meet the minimum 35 pound UL pull test requirement.
A: In reference to SKINTOP® glands, PSI, Pounds per Square Inch, refers to the amount of water pressure that is sprayed directly on the cable gland without any leakage.
A: Within the static temperature range, both the SKINTOP® and cable are not subjected to movement, including possible vibration.
The dynamic value listed refers to slight movement of the cable, as tested under the IP and UL test conditions and procedures.
A: Non-metallic SKINTOP® SL/SLR, PG 36-48 and SKINTOP® SLM/SLRM, Metric 40-63 come standard with an o-ring to ensure the listed IP 68 rating. Metal SKINTOP® glands come standard with an o-ring.
A: O-rings are typically not required with NPT glands, as the tapered threads are typically screwed into corresponding NPT fittings until the tapered threads lock. For through-hole, knockout applications, the straight-thread of a PG or Metric gland is preferred and can be supplied with an o-ring.
A: Locknuts are typically not required with NPT style glands, as the tapered threads are usually screwed into corresponding NPT fittings. For through-hole, knockout applications, the straight-thread of a PG or Metric gland is preferred and is standardly provided with a locknut.
